I was looking through the top-rated bands, and it's nice that you can sort by country, but I was thinking it would be neat if we could go further, i.e. US state, Canadian province, country of the UK.

It would be neat seeing the top artists from California, Montreal, or Scotland, for example.

I just thought it would be neat, though I'm not sure how difficult this would be to implement.

That'd be great, but really really difficult. A lot of bands exist in a grey area when it comes to location. For example The National are an Ohio band, but live in NYC

Yeah, many bands can't be attributed to one city/providence/state. Animal Collective for example, Avey lives in LA, Geo's in DC, Panda's in Lisbon, and Deakin's in Baltimore. They were founded in Baltimore but got their start in NY. Where the hell would you assign them to?

There.

But i'm pretty sure this has been suggested before and it was decided that it would be a bad move.

Eh, I still don't really like the idea.

I'm not a huge fan of using this idea in terms of states (For reasons suggested above), but I'm all for separating up the United Kingdom's artists by their specific nations where possible (E.g. Putting Manic Street Preachers under Wales, Belle & Sebastian under Scotland, etc.).

This I can get behind.

Yeah, I've been pretty vocal in my support of separating the UK's states for a while now.
