Captain, We're Sinking - The Future Is Cancelled
Year: 2013
Country:
Average Rating: 74/100

Track list

1. Adultery
2. Brother
3. Annina, We Will Miss You
4. The Future Is Cancelled
5. Montreal
6. More Tequila, Less Joe
7. Beer Can
8. You Have Flaws
9. Lake
10. Here's to Forever
11. A Bitter Divorce
12. Shoddy Workmanship

An emo/punk album with very enjoyable songwriting. One of my favorites from this year. Actually, tbh, I was going to choose a minimal synth album for my choice, but I thought fuck it and decided to go with this. It's awesome. Warning out to those who only use youtube for listening to albums (which I understand aren't many), someone did upload the album, but they uploaded it backwards (meaning that the tracks are in reverse order).

Anyway, I originally read this as "2013 ALC#5 Is Cancelled" haha. I'll be checking this album out today hopefully.

Out of curiosity, what was the minimal synth album you had in mind?

La Musique ร‰lectronique Du Niger by Mammane Sani Et Son Orgue

This album started off well, Adultery and Brother being two of the better tracks. But the lyric content at times just didn't connect with me. Solid start which waned near the end.

Ranked inbetween OMD's English Electric and Cyborgs On Crack's Drinking Air With Eyes

ALC Rankings

1. The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here
2. Sub-Verses
3=. Other Life
3=. The Future Is Cancelled
3=. Partygoing

Really isn't my genre of choice, but I actually enjoyed this one. Despite the lyrics being super dark, I really appreciate the songwriting. It's just.. different, doesn't sounds cookie cuter to me.

THINGS JUST HAVE TO CHANGE MY BROTHER ARE YOU OK

When I was in high school, I might have loved this too. This reminds me a lot of all of the shows I went to back then. But I really can't connect with it at all anymore. suddenly I feel like my grandfather.

To me, this had more to it than your typical pop-punk. It's the one I liked the most, but I haven't been blown away yet...

Ranking so far:

Captain, We're Sinking - The Future is Cancelled
Future Bible Heroes - Partygoing
Akron/Family - Sub Verses
Sean Nicholas Savage - Other Life
Alice In Chains - The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here

FYI: If you're going to listen on Youtube, Runforcovertube (who I think is the publisher of the album) uploaded each song individually, and has a playlist of all the songs in order. It's in HD too.

I'm listening now, it's decent but not amazing. I'll post again when I'm finished.

Listening to it now. Three tracks in and not gonna lie, I'm having trouble getting past the vocals.
