Hey this is just spitballing an idea to you guys. But what does everyone think about creating a site where everyone here contributes reviews and features? I know some people have blogs they review on and a few post complete reviews on the album pages here but it would be a lot more powerful if a lot of people were involved in one. I've wanted to try and create one for a while but it's a lot of work for one person but if several people are contributing it'll be like a review a month for most people (or more if they want?). It could be a sister site maybe if albummaster allows (or is interested himself in contributing reviews 😁 )

It's obviously at sperm stage right now (maybe zygote) but just letting know I'm willing to pay for a professional domain name and I have ideas for the name of the site but I don't want to forrce them onto peoples yet. Who knows maybe we'll become the next pitchfork and people can blame us for getting bands they don't like popular 😉

So thoughts, additional ideas, yays, nays?

Considering that reviewing music is easily my ideal profession, I would be more than happy to participate. What kind of rating system would it be? I personally prefer the 5-star system that allmusic uses, but that's just me. Also, how would we go about choosing who gets to write the review for any given album?

Not that we have to decide these things now. Just things to think about.

Really? I thought this counted as 'Music' not 'Lounge' but okay.

Regarding rating systems, not personally a fan of the 5 star rating system. I prefer the grading system (A+ to F) but I wouldn't be against kidamnesiac's suggestion of a number out of 100.

Also who wants me to burn in hell? I bet it was mooseboy.

What can be annoying from review sites is the one-sided point of view (obviously - it's a personal review).

For a certain album you'll find people who love it, and some who hate it.
We have pretty different taste around here, and deciding who would write a review would make it rather biased.

We could have a good / bad type review board, where there would be 2 reviews for most albums, to have a spectrum of opinions.
Then a comment box for each review / an open rating system to see which review people prefer (sounding like rottentomatoes or something).

Just an idea after waking up...

😲

I love this idea so much. And it would make it really unique and interesting. It could seemed forced though on some reviews, i.e. what if we can't find someone who really disliked a particular album or someone who really loved it? Would we then just have one review?

FANTASTIC IDEA

Seriously 😁 With all of us combined, I'm sure we could construct some amazing stuff. I always wanted to be a music critic as my career choice, and this would be excellent experience.

And who knows, we could all get famous and stuff 😨

I will do all of the Iron Maiden albums

Just wondering, why can't this be done within the parameters of BEA 🤔

Maybe ratings can be based on votes of all of our "certified" critics (a la rottentomatoes), but the reviews themselves are written (preferably from as objective a standpoint as possible) by two different critics with differing opinions on the album.
