Easy vote for dogs. Cats would be another possible option but only if you include big cats.

As far as pets go, cats. Dogs are cute and all but I prefer animals with dignity XD
As for critters in general, I'm partial to the arctic fox. So pretty :3

Critters are pets, creatures are other animals. I just made that up, but it makes sense to me. 
And yeah, arctic foxes rule.
