I found out about Ben Harper when he popped up on some Pearl Jam bootlegs. He would typically join the band for a great version of their song "Indifference" and I later found he'd cover that song in his own concerts. That was around the time that "Diamonds on the Inside" came out so I went ahead and picked it up.
Harper fits in with the jam band scene and fans of his tend to like artists like Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, Pearl Jam, Jason Mraz, Train, Counting Crows, etc.
Here's the title track. I find it to be full of meaningful and inspiring lyrics.
The first time I saw Art Brut, frontman Eddie Argos appeared to be impeccably clever and spontaneous. And then I saw them again and he did the same exact routine. As clever and funny as Bang Bang Rock & Roll was, it grew old over time. But I still enjoy it more than Ben Harper _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
I never figured out why Ben Harper has been forgotten so quickly. It's not like he's widely hated, but his profile is nonexistent on sites like BEA. _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.
