The Walkmen's album was very good and deliciously lo-fi, but it's against Psychocandy 😐

Goddamn. My lesser known pick just had to draw Psychocandy first round didn't it. I won't blame anyone for voting Psychocandy. Easily one of the best and more influential albums of the 80s. But give The Walkmen a chance to wow you.
The Walkmen emergedout of the ashes of Jonathan Fire Eater as part of the same music scene that produced Interpol, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. They never quite reached the same level as any of those bands, but history has treated them far better. Everyone Who Pretended To Like Me Is Gone is a woozy winter record highlighted by beautiful piano flourishes and Hamilton Leitheuser's excellent vocals. I've always felt that The National were a bit more tightly wound version of The Walkmen, so all you National fans may enjoy this. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

I first heard of the Walkmen when Lisbon came out and I played it to death. Then listened to their other albums and none of them made an instant impact and I moved on. Psychocandy grabbed at me with the first listen and never did let go; it has been an essential part of my life ever since.

I never got the hype behind Psychocandy, maybe it'll grow on me over time, but I already like The Walkmen right now so I'm going with them.

I had never listened to either of these before the tourney. After a once-over, I'm going with Everyone Who Pretended...
Though it looks like Psychocandy will go through, so I'll have plenty of chances to give it another listen.

That's funny. I generally think of Lisbon as one of the least liked Walkmen albums. I love it, but I think it fails to measure up against Everyone Who..., Bows & Arrows, and You & Me.
Psychocandy is awesome though. I personally think Darklands is far more consistent, but Psychocandy has Just Like Honey, Taste The Floor and Taste of Cindy. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

I'm listening to the Walkmen album right now and I already find it better than the other two albums of theirs I heard so far (You & Me, Bows+Arrows). Seeing as I'm not a huge fan of Psychocandy, there might be another vote coming that way...

Everyone who pretended to like that Walkmen album isn't here apparently.
