A lot of forums and sites like this have a dedicate IRC or Mibbit chatroom so the idea popped into my head if there was one or if we should have one? If we have one and I was unaware then I guess just tell me and this thread is over, otherwise; thoughts?

I think we've discussed this three or four times before... 🤔
The idea was never really that supported for the most part. I personally don't think BEA needs one. _________________ Doubles & Conch

How is a dedicated chatroom not wanted; it could help spur activity and more cohesive understandings of one another (imo). I like active discussion channels personally.

I think the first thing it would do would be to reduce the traffic on the forums, which is kind of the opposite of the goal.... _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold

On every website I've been on in the last twelve years has not ever suffered an activity drop due to a chatroom access so I don't understand why this is an assumed thing. It's not like discussion at length will disappear and having a conversation in the down hours would be great. This website has skype groups/users and the website's message board activity didn't drop when they started sharing usernames.

It's been dead for ages. Members still talk to eachother on skype bealuminati but the general "BEA Grop" is dead as fuck.

Any reason for that?

Not any particular reason, a lot of the more lively members just stopped going on, and just stuck to their private group chats, leaving only a couple members still active in the group. It just went downhill from there.

Nobody ever directed me to this chat, haha, so the lack of it being widely available affects that too I think.

I really like the unique forum situation that exists here. There's something nice about how active a forum is. I feel like a chatroom wouldn't take away from the overall activity of the site, but would take away from the forums, which I personally prefer. _________________
