Just got back from a week-long conference in Marbella, Spain. While there I had the chance to go see a flamenco show. It was held in what looked like someone's living room, with just some wooden chairs placed around the walls and a simple bar serving simple drinks. No more than 100 people in there, tops. Four dancers and two guitar players. The experience was magnificent. The energy of these people and the intimate setting made for an hour and a half that didn't once let go of you. If you ever get a chance to go to one of them shows, whatever you do, take that chance. Magnificent!
I'm a big fan of flamenco. My favourite guitarist is Paco de Lucia who is absolutely incredible (for the purist, this isn't 'true' flamenco but a fusion).
