Post subject: The only surfing Beach Boy drowned 30 years ago today
It's today 30 years ago that Dennis Wilson 28th December tragically passed away in a drowning accident. I thought I would make a tribute thread for the drummer of The Beach Boys, a man much like his older brother with his ups and down, and arguably the second biggest creative force behind the band, at least during their later days.
Pet Sounds definitely isn't only a happy-go-lucky album, but doesn't really come close to Pacific Ocean Blue in terms of gloomy melancholy. This is imo the most moving piece from Dennis Wilson's grandiouse solo album:
When you think of all the early, fun sunshine hits, it's nearly impossible to imagine a song and album this soulful. Here's another Dennis Wilson composition that is beyond heavenly:
Feel free to share your thoughts of Dennis Wilson, share songs by him, interesting facts about his personal life or whatever. _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal

I don't think Mother Nature's Son was implying he died surfing, he said the only surfing Beach Boy drowned, which is true I guess from my understanding (Maybe some of the others surfed too, but none as much as Dennis apparently, I dunno).
Anyway, tragic way to go for a talented man, RIP. _________________

Oh, perhaps the thread title was a little unclear. No, he did not die surfing, from what I understand, he died collecting various items in the water (kinda confusing story as with probably all drowning accidents). I don't know what exactly he collected, why he did it and how much the accident was caused by alcohol/drugs, but the fact remains that this became the last day in his life. _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal
