- Post subject: And Into The Very Next Album
|
So I thought I would chart my progress so far. Currently I have listened to:
- 76 albums out of the top 100 on this site
- 72 albums between 101-200 on this site
- 148 albums out of the top 200 on this site
Out of the 52 albums I have yet to listen to, I own 6 on CD. These date back to times I used to buy CDS and leave them lying around, never getting round to actually listening to them.
I have Pink Floyds Wish You Were Here out from the library currently.
Anyway, without further ado, here are the albums I have yet to listen to in the top 200 here. Where should I go next? Lay off the top albums a while? Listen to more? Anything I must listen to before tomorrow up?

Start by Wish You Were Here and Animals by Pink Floyd, playing both in a row. If you like them, go on to Close to the Edge, or pass on to Meddle, although its not ranked in the top 200s.
Of the albums you own on Cd, Highway 61 Revisited to beggin with, and then listen to all of them. They are all top 100 albums for me, except Illinoise which I havent heard. _________________ And If a Double Decker Bus, Crashes into us...

Legend makes you feel really great; as long as you're not opposed to reggae I would start with that; at times has some of the gravest song content behind the happiest songs, but it works very well. Then I would go with Bowie's Low, just cos it's amazing. Purple Rain is pop magik that no one can hate (PURPLE RAIN! purple rain...). And then I have to suggest the Moon and Antartica as one of the best of last decade; it's got some mellow stuff, some faster stuff, and a great range of sounds.
So, Low, Exodus, Purple Rain, Moon and Antartica are my suggestions. I find them all (except the last half of Low, maybe) very easy to pick up and enjoy first listen, and then it's also easy for them to keep on growing on you with each listen.

Here are the ones I would recommend.
*Metallica-Master of Puppets: The greatest metal album ever. No questions asked.
*Beatles-Abbey Road: Truly has a magical quality to it, especially the medley.
*Pink Floyd-The Wall: Not the easiest album to penetrate through, but if you research the theme (and maybe watch the movie with it), then you truly will be amazed.
*Bjork-Homogenic: Up there with the best electronic albums ever made.

Purple Rain and Legend were both fantastic! Many great songs which I enjoyed. Bowies 'Low' was very underwhelming. I preferred Station To Station and various other singles than it.
Moon and Antartica... I'm having a very hard time finding this. It's not in the shops or the library and it's not on spotify either. I might try Ebay when I'm feeling a little more confident with my money.
Is it any different to 'Float on'? I wasn't too keen on that song.
