Alright, I guess I may as well start this now

Demonstration Tapes by Dolly Mixture

It's 2:40am right now. This started around 1:55am. I'm feeling this a lot more than when I initially listened to it (though I didn't actually absorb much or listen to the whole thing). Yeah, it's resonating with the happy emotions inside of me right now. Twee is good, guys. I'll try and put some more thoughts towards this one at the end of the album, however I'm not feeling super analytical at the moment. Just know I like this a lot and that twee pop will be a huge feature in this ULL.

Cross Paths by The Motifs

Started this about 10 minutes after Demonstration Tapes finished, so around 3:15am. Finished around 3:55am. I've always found this to be a pleasant and calming listen but it's never blown me away or hit me emotionally. It's certainly nice, though, and I do really like what it has going on.

All Day Long In Bliss by Trixie's Big Red Motorbike

It's now 4:20am. This album started at around 4am, and it should finish around 4:45am. This is very pleasant thus far, nothing too challenging but nothing too boring, either. Very cutesy vocals with lo-fi, mesmerising guitars and a slight electronic edge to it with what appears to be a pretty cheap keyboard every so often. Yeah, this is nice for sure. Will be spinning more often in the future. I think I might end this listening binge and get some sleep after this album, though 2 more were planned (they'd go on until like 6am so fuck that). I'll listen to them both first thing in the morning.

Boodle Boodle Boodle by The Clean

This short EP started around 11:15am. It's now 11:35am. I feel this was a nice enough listen but to me the indie pop flavour to it didn't mix too well with their punkier, rockier edge and so the two kinda just collided. I was looking for a lot more jangliness and poppy melodies that just weren't delivered to me. But whatever, that's just me being picky in what I look for. This was a good listen, though I think I'll have to check out the poppier stuff from The Clean before making a solid opinion of them.

Vehicle by The Clean

This started around 11:40am and finished just after 12:05pm. This is what I meant by the jangliness and the poppy melodies - this is what I was looking for exactly. Has enough pop appeal whilst still keeping it pretty raw and punky - The Clean really do their own thing for jangle pop on this album.

Hallowed Ground by Violent Femmes

Started this around 12:15pm and it finished at just gone 12:50pm. Was very surprised at how this sounded - very countrified and a lot more Reed-ish than the self-titled. Yeah, I liked it a lot. Not many moments where I wasn't feeling the energy from the Femmes, which was a surprise to me because I'd always presumed they were one-album-wonders, but no.

Meat Puppets II by Meat Puppets

I started this at about 1pm and it finished at 1:30pm. Same opinions as Hallowed Ground, really, in that I was incredibly surprised by the energy here. I already knew some Meat Puppets songs from Nirvana's Unplugged in New York album, but they're completely different on this record than that one. Yeah, again, I liked it a lot. I think next up will be Amiina's Kurr but not for awhile as I'm sorting out ratings on both here and RYM, and once that's done I think I'll read for awhile and listen to that album whilst doing so.

Souvlaki by Slowdive

Every once in awhile my heart will just sink randomly and I'll be craving this album and I won't reach normality until it's over. I was gonna read a book and listen to Kurr but instead my plans were disturbed and all of a sudden my brain screams "you need the soothing music of Slowdive". So, yeah, here I am. I guess seeing as this is a listening log of sorts I really should showcase my thoughts on this luscious music, but I'm not sure I really can. I'll try, anyway.

I'm a generally fragile person and that is why this speaks to me in such a sentimental way. Not to suggest that I'm insecure or easily offended or anything like that, just more that I easily get sad - I'm fickle and can have a mood swing so quickly. I crave what I don't have and envy what's not mine, and so albums like these which just remind me to keep calm and remind me that there are great, beautiful things in this world are albums that I keep close to my heart. This is just so soaked in reverb and layered with beautiful melodies and it's like I'm swimming in a pool of beauty. There's not really any other way to describe it than that. Every song just immerses me in its walls and just warms me up and it's as if a person's arms are coming out toward you and just hold you tight and keep you there for the duration of the album. It's such a warm, fuzzy feeling that I just can't resist. And yeah, it keeps me calm, too.

I guess that should sum up my love for this. Recommended for the introverts out there that just need something.
