Top 50 Greatest Music Albums by Yann

Today I value silence more, but these albums have brought me, and still bring me some happiness, and I'm grateful.
I like the great power of reminiscence of music. For instance, the way the DX7 synth brings back to the eighties, or the way an album, or a song, brings back to a moment in life. We know it's not just a memory but the full atmosphere of it that is magically recreated in the mind (as Marcel Proust vividly described). However if you listen too much to a record for this purpose, it gradually looses its power of reminiscence, because the present moment gradually permeates it: no more than a listening per decade is then recommended.

Deluxe production. Clear lyrics (as opposed to Steely Dan), very good songs. I've listened to this album so much..
The last two songs slightly inferior, like in a rush (a slow and nostalgic song to finish with would have been even better, in my opinion).

I still cannot decide whether it would have been better as a single album (George Martin thought so, Macca did not). A great patchwork anyway, perfectly produced. [First added to this chart: 05/27/2017]

Frail vocals under a magma of nicely produced guitars. The songs are almost folk, pastoral at times. What a production! Such sound has never been matched. A unique record in history. [First added to this chart: 05/27/2017]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.1/100, a mean average of 91.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.7/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 5.0.

Still a very impressive chart, with the love for standout songwriting being obvious. And it's always a super-plus to have MJ in his place!

Spicy with just the right amount of seasoning. What a tasteful list backed up with sweet writing! Would've love some more daring flavours, but fantastic nonetheless!

@Nowhereman: funny how you (and so many people) associate silence with sadness:)
Quite the opposite.
