Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

One of the reasons anyone with an ear can say Pentangle are possibly the greatest and definitely the most under rated band in history. 5 members, each a virtuoso in their own right.
Stand out members being Jansch and Thompson, either of whom has a talent that rightly sees them viewed as amongst the most important in the fabric of British musical history.
This song has everything you would want.
Listen to the sweet juxtaposition of Bert's distinctive, sometimes stretching voice against the flawless pitch of Jacqui.
Listen to Bert and John dueling their acoustics in blissful companionship.
Listen to Thompson's delicate bass line, as it begins to rumble and rise, increasing all the while, keeping a wonderful rhythmic pace.
Listen to Cox's incisive percussion. Silent for a minute or so, then gently arriving as nothing but a triangle, before he marries his jazzy high hats and cymbals with triplets of snare.
You are incredibly lucky to be listening to a group of virtuoso's in perfect unison, recorded to perfection and delivering a song with so much depth and emotion, you'll have to listen to all the music in the world twice, in a vain attempt to find a comparison.
