"Bar-ba-sol" reference the post-grunge book of required content to yield a piece unlike the preceding tracks. It's hard to imagine this fitting well in the flow of things if listening to the ordered album because it's in such a different style than the other tracks. So bad placement and balancing of genres are a failure of the album in general, rather than a failure inherent to this song itself.
Post-grunge is a tired, dated form of musical expression that's been tried and tested to exasperating extremities by the likes of Creed, Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd. All of these killed the genre for me, and eventually I distrusted further releases or forays into the genre. Listening to this was accidental. And I must say...
I don't hate it.
It actually grinds with a catchy (although unoriginal) riff. The interlude and subsequent solo are interesting to listen to, and I'm sure as a singer Cook broke a sweat developing this in the studio with forgotten post-grungers Injected.
