Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 86.3/100, a mean average of 85.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 86.8/100. The standard deviation for this track is 12.9.

In common with most tracks on the album, the title track runs at over five minutes, nearly eight to be precise, and as with pretty much every track on the album, it benefits from the extra spaces afforded to develop the track
It has to be said that it is an absolute masterpiece, one of Steely Dan's finest songs. I find that there’s always something new to discover every time I listen to this track. It’s so multi layered without being off-putting to the listener.
The arrangement is flawless and the solos, with the sax solos working particularly well (Wayne Shorter of course!).
Probably Steely Dan’s jazziest of tracks.
Greatest drum solo of all time?? Great instrumentation and some really refreshing textures.
There is just something so magical about the lyrical parts of this song. The name "Aja" just sounds sound wonderful when sung. The instrumental Jazz parts are alright.
