Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 7% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 79.5/100, a mean average of 78.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.7/100. The standard deviation for this track is 12.6.

Definitely the weakest track on the album. That being said, it's still a fantastic song.
Great song, never understood the animosity towards it.
It's a great song on it own, but I think it doesn't fit really well on the album.
Not that Hetfield will likely ever admit to this but I tend to think that the reason why he - and by that extension most ardent Metallica fans - might hate this song is because it's quite possibly one of Hetfield's first songs (lyrics-wise at least) that deals with some of the emotions and/or situations he's actually been through while growing up (as I imagine would be a similar case with a lot of teenagers the world over).
I bet Hetfield is/was secretly proud of this little song that single-handedly broadened Metallica's musical scope and territory. I know I am/was. Besides, it's not like anybody forced the man to put this on the album in the first place...
I also like to think that Nick Holmes from Paradise Lost was at least partially inspired/encouraged to reconsider his singing - in what was to become their breakthrough album - after (re)hearing this song. But don't quote me on that! :)
It's sure catchy enough. And the guitar is really cool.
This is one of those Metallica songs that you either love or hate. I love it!! Easily my favorite Metallica chorus.
