Trying to remember...

The thread for all things we need help remembering. I'm trying to remember the name of a scary movie I saw when I was a kid. I remember an author went to a haunted house to write a novel and all this crazy stuff happened and at the end of the movie you learn everything that happened was just part of his book. Any ideas?

Yeah I know 😜 It's something to do with the brain I suppose. Because it was so long since I saw it, how I remember it had changed drastically. Even though it is different than the video I remember, at exactly the same time I know it's the video I saw.
