Berlin but Ziggy Stardst is my favorite of his stuff. One thing i never understand about Bowie is why people like diamond dogs? Not only is there nothing new or innovative but also just as regular pop songs there's little enjoyment there.
Diamond Dogs is not his most innovative indeed, but nonetheless it's a very solid album I think. The song-writing on it is still first-rate. Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing Reprise, Rebel Rebel, Diamond Dogs, We Are the Dead are all great tracks, and the rest is also decent enough.
It's probably more of a transitional record. Not his best or most important one, but still essential Bowie 😄

favourite 10 Bowie lp's so anywhere from '69-'80, but also really like most of the pre Space Oddity material, plus Heathen, Outside, & both Tin Machine lp's, basically anything except lets dance, tonight & nlmd, although all 3 lp's had some high points, especially Loving The Alien from Tonight.
Don't forget the Iggy Pop stuff Bowie did during the Berlin era! Lust for Life and the Idiot are among my favorite albums ever! He produced, played keyboards, and cowrote a lot of that material... There was just so much great starpower from that era- Eno and Fripp lending a hand on Heroes, one of my top ten albums.

totally agree 1977 was 1 hell of a year for Bowie fans, LOW, HEROES, & the 2 Iggy albums, the guy really is a genius, wish we could hear some new stuff sometime soon.
I was the perfect age (11 to 14) for Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane & Diamond Dogs when they came out. All are albums I still enjoy immensely, so the '69 to '73 period would get my vote. _________________ YCDTOSA
