I agree with what you say about the album as a whole. It's beautiful. But that voice, it's still in another league. He's one of the greatest singers I've ever heard. I rank him along the likes of Billie Holiday or Nina Simone. When what he does with his voice works (he tends to experiment a lot with it, and sometimes I can't be bothered - that doesn't happen on I Am A Bird Now though) it just puts the songs on a whole different level.

I was lucky enough to see Antony live in a very small club 7 or 8 years ago. He was just chilling on the sidelines watching his friends Metallic Falcons (an odd Cocorosie side project), and eventually came up to add backing vocals for a couple songs. Despite vocal effects and less than favorable acoustics, he was immediately mindblowing the moment he opened his mouth. I haven't seen many singers capable of that.
