I will try put up something more cohesive if I'm home with the tie still open, but for now I'll quote myself from the last round.

I of course had to vote Nick Cave, who has around numerous albums I enjoy thoroughly. Given my current mood I feel Abattoir Blues/The Lyre Of Orpheus is currently my favourite album. This track in particular is one I always enjoy

Anyway, I need to sleep badly, so instead of putting up something cohesive I'll just link some other tracks I personally love.

Beginning with the 14 minute O'Malley's Bar. Cool

The reason I actually discovered Nick Cave was from hearing Arctic Monkeys cover this...

Let's talk about New Order. Yeah, talk, because to be honest I never watch the videos other captains post. Does anybody do it anyway? Oh well. So I've discovered New Order a few months ago with Power, Corruption & Lies. I had never heard anything by them before (the radio prefers Depeche Mode, for some reason). And that first listen was absolutely boring. Seriously. I was like "How can this shit be so acclaimed?" and I forgot them for a few weeks. Then, on a lazy afternoon, I decided to lay on my bed and give them another shot. What an incredible experience. It's like the whole album had changed. From the first few notes of Age Of Consent, I was hooked. That song is still one of my favorite ever. I wanted to jump out of my bed and dance (I actually didn't do it because I was tired lolol). There is absolutely no other album in the world that makes me want to dance like P, C & L (except maybe a few Talking Heads ones... whatever). But obviously that's not all. If the album was only made to dance, it would have been another forgotten shit in the endless list of the 80's dance music. But it's clever. The melodies are clever, the instruments are clever, the interludes are clever. It really is a super clever record. Few other records touch me like this one. Well I talked about P, C & L in particular, but obviously you can't go wrong with anything from their "golden period", Technique and Low-Life are fabulous too.

New Order is not only a singles band. If it was the case, they wouldn't be so acclaimed. Nobody remembers the singles band. New Order managed to put out many albums of very high quality in a style that was dominated by shitty same-sounding songs made to dance. Vote for New Order.
