Finally got around to updating my 2013 chart. Go check it out if you're that way inclined.

Finally leveled up to year charts so the first one I did was a 2012 chart. Check it out if you're interested.

Individual year charts are always awkward for me (likely the reason I private'd most of mine in the category) and I always hate leaving off on numbers that don't end with 5 or 0. Will check it out though, might be some stuff I missed for '12.

I want to steer my 1980's chart away from glam and heavy metal. Would Pixies be a good place to start? I'm also going to get to Daydream Nation when I have the time for a 70 minute album.

Yes and yes.

Do both absolutely. And if you like Daydream Nation, check out EVOL, personally I think it's almost as good as Daydream Nation.

Also check out Dire Straits if you haven't already, you'd probably like them.

Well the alternative rock would get you better chart ratings than glam metal will, because that's just the reality of BEA, but once again, I can only advise you to just be honest with yourself. Nothing wrong with exploring a different side of the 80s. Listen to as much as you can, but keep your chart honest.

Why can't I get past the screaming vocals of Pixies, Swans, and Kurt Cobain? It ruins the albums for me. But I'll definitely check out more Dire Straits. I'm hoping some less heavy bands can alter my top ten greatly. Have you seen it? Please post recs on my chart, if you don't rate.

I'm listening to Doolittle right now. The first track could've been perfect if it weren't for the shouting. I think I should start with a different Pixies album (I've been meaning to get to Surfer Rosa anyway).

Of course. I can assure you that I love or like just about every album in that chart. Hardly anything from the 80's I don't like. But still, I need to explore more genres anyway, so I really hope that my charts will one day be filled with variety. The MBV debut is a good place to start.

I think the random shouting and stuff on both Doolittle and Surfer Rosa is part of what makes the albums so good. It's so strange and loose, almost goofy. It keeps you on your toes, you never know what's going to happen next.

...likes metal and criticizes Pixies, etc. for screaming vocals? Really? What?

My brain hurts.
