You might like one or two of these:
Wovenhand- The Threshingfloor (americana/folk-rock with bits of middle-eastern/arabic sounding influences)
James Holden- the Inheritors (electronic)
Daniel Wohl- Corps Exquis (chamber music, modern classical, electronic)
Gnaw Their Tongues- Eschatological Scatology (over the top noise/avant-metal)
Portal- Vexovoid (particularly ugly kind of death metal)

Is there something wrong with my files or is the volume terribly low on this album? I have my speakers at max volume and I can still barely hear it. I'm afraid to try using headphones in case I go to a website with audio or something with my volume set on max.
Anyway, based on what I can hear, I think I understand the atmosphere it's going for. I do feel it a bit. Other than that, I think it's kind of unexciting. I don't think I'll be listening to the full 5 hours.

Hah, oriental influences. ...yea, absolutely nothing here. It's just blending genres with the songs entering different segments. It doesn't transcend that for me. I feel too conscious of the structure. Plus nothing sounds good to me. Like, sometimes in some music someone can just dick around with an instrument and I'll enjoy, just because I like the way that instrument sounded, it's almost as if it didn't matter which notes are playing. As opposed to that (if you understood what I was trying to say), in this album, almost every note is too damn clean.
I guess the genre-blending, in itself, is intriguing. Kind of. Cover art is decent. Maybe.
Maybe I should stop putting down my thoughts. I'm too harsh, eh?
