Gustavo (Mark Kozelek x Jimmy LaVelle) is my favorite song of 2013
This may very well be one of my favorite songs of all-time
The storytelling is chilling
the fact that you think "Accidental Racist" has touching lyricism, along with what you've said in the politics forum, makes me believe you enjoy "Gustavo" because the illegal immigrant gets detained and doesn't get the job done

So I saw Mark Kozelek last night in a church in Austin with Paris(1989) and Alexandra (whose music I've shared on here and Applerill is obsessed with). On top of the natural echoing projection of a church, he threw on some extra reverb on his mic which made the lyrics difficult to decifer, which he depends so much upon, but overall it was a good show. Dark to the point that we could only make out his silohuette.
He's quite the comedian between songs. People complained about the reverb and he both apologized and told them to fuck themselves throughout the show. He is apparently addicted to horror movies and spoke about his love for The Shining, House of 1,000 Corpses, and The Devil's Rejects. He's gonna spend christmas alone in New Orleans celebrating by getting drunk. Apparently "Tavoris Cloud" is about and dedicated to the drummer of American Music Club, who played with him on at least Ghosts of the Great Highway. He played a handful of songs from the Sun Kil Moon album due out February 2014, 4/5 which were fantastic, on which Will Oldham and Steve Shelley play. He started playing a christmas song, stopped after a couple of verses to look up the lyrics, and then made a quip about how no one remembers christmas songs outside of the main verses, and continued to play a couple of christmas songs. He had a lot of crowd interaction within the church. I ended up listening to most of the show with my eyes closed, only looking up to view his gestures during his talks between songs.
EDIT: and the only songs I recognized were 'Alison,' 'Gustavo,' and 'Tavoris Cloud'; not much RHP stuff
