I don't get this.
If you are really fed up with modern day indie rock, why don't you take the opportunity break out of your comfort zone and listen to other genres? Many people here will tell you how amazing those last few years have been and that's surely not because they limit themselves to a few genres.
Just try to follow the yearend charts of some forum regulars (GeevyDallas, tekin, meccalecca, Saoirse, lethalnezzle, ...) for some great recs, I'm sure your perception will change in no time.

Modern music in the charts you mean? Then yes, so fed up I only pay attention to have an informed (negative) opinion.
Modern music in general? It's not bad at all, far from it.

In terms of the UK top 40. This year as a whole has sucked, there have been exceptions. However, that is not to say that 2013 was a bad year for music. Some of my highlights of the year have been from: Bowie, Arcade Fire, & The 1975. Just to name a few. I think those of us who don't just pay attention to the official charts have had a pretty damn good year in terms of music. The others... not so great.

I doubt very much that many people on this site pay any attention to the Top 40/Billboard/whatever as any sort of barometer of what's credible and worth listening to. If they did it'd be highly unlikely they'd be here. Throwaway pop/rock/hip-hop has its place, but it tends to be on a 12 year old's iPod rather than here.

As for 'modern music' in all its many genres/guises, I think it's in ruder health than ever. A mountain of music to discover in a variety of different ways, you can't possibly get bored of what's out there, although you may need to look a little deeper until you hit paydirt. I'm not sure about Outlaw's comment, which seems to suggest that you should perservere with an album until something clicks. With so much choice to be had, I'd say if something doesn't trigger at least a partial response/'click' by the second or third listen, you'd best move on...

You're probably not listening to the right music (the music you dislike), I'd try and find something you like, explore different genres and once you've hit something you like, find other albums like it.

If you like absolutely no modern music then you are an anomaly amongst many.

Ahahahahah

I have a higher % chance of liking billboard music than indie rock come at me. (I think if I really did the math this would be real)

I know more backstreet boy lyrics than built for spill. Idk even know I'm drunk lol
