And that's everything, aside from Best Users of 2013, which I have left in the hands of Sairose. who will be sure to come up with some wonderful literature on the subject.
It's been fun doing this. Hopefully next year, there'll be more participation. To everyone who did vote, uknoi♥u _________________
Aight I got write-ups for the top Best User vote getters, and sorry for any ego-bruising for those that didn't make the shortlist. It's okay, you're all winners to me. But here's a taste, the first write-up
A TRIBUTE TO SWEDENMAN- I SVENSK
Men välkomna. BEA är full av fascinerande figurer och mannen som är sverige definitivt går in i striden. Viktigt att veta, uttrycker till levande vid. Hagel Sverige!
Jhereko Oogiebears and his inspiration for Kangaroo Jack
There was once a time when the international community didn't know the name- Jhereko. And they still didn't even after he briefly conquered Hollywood. It just so happened one day he was hopping along in western australian in a red windbreaker and started rapping PG-rated b-boy lyrics for no reason other than he was feeling fresh n funky and coincidentally a talent scout spotted him and suddenly had the perfect idea for a movie starring Jerry O'connel and Christopher Walken. He approached the humble Australian and asked if he wanted to voice a CGI kangaroo and do pointless emceeing from time-to-time. He said the movie actually wouldn't have much of the kangaroo (too expensive) but he would pay him handsomely. Jhereko hesitated- it sounded legitimately stupid and he would prefer his music to be in the style of Wayne Conye meets Prince, but he needed the money to fund his wildlife adventure project so he consented. He changed his name to Jhereko Oogiebears and moved to Hollywood and did exactly as he was told- voice the kangaroo and do some silly dated raps for the movie. Unfortunately while the movie was a surprise hit (67 million at the US Box office, the highest January grosser and ranked 42nd in 2003), nobody knew his actual name. They only knew Jack. They loved Jack. But what about Jhereko? He was the voice, the animated and brilliant puppeteer behind this mythical cinematic creation. Just nobody knew him personally. Quickly in 2004 the rapping kangaroo fad faded so the movie studios were no longer offering him jobs. So desperately he started hopping along the hollywood walk like a kangaroo for money and people started taking notice. Kids, adults, elderly all rejoiced simultaneously and a video capture of his routine made it one of the most popular viral videos in the pre-You Tube days. But like all popular viral videos it's novelty eventually wore off and Jhereko was now broke forced to sing for pennies and give helicopters on Venice beach to survive. Eventually a good wise friendly musician who rhymes with Sarkan funded his return home, and Jhereko enjoyed his time in Perth, though thoughts of What Could've Been haunted him for years. And he had no funding for his Wildlife Video project "Poo-Pushing with Sticks". He did briefly get famous again on the interwebs when he did a Switchblade Sisters re-enactment with a drag queen called Saoirse, but that too only provided fleeting fame. It wasn't until a lonely late August afternoon in 2010 when a stubble-full Jhereko fell drunk on his keyboard only hitting exactly three keys on accident: b e a, and he just so happened to be on google search (with the purpose of looking up PJ Harvey parody albums). Suddenly interested though still hammered, he slowly moved his mouse and clicked on Im Feeling Lucky.
