Music which tells me everything is going to be great. Music which tells me I am special and like no other. Music which tells me as long as I persevere I am entitled to have all my dreams fall from the sky and onto my lap. ๐Ÿ˜„

Bongwater's Double Bummer is really really good. Thanks to whoever put in his chart and somehow had me wishlist it.

anyone have some good bluegrass/country recs to give me? Im trying to get into more of it but Ive been ridiculously picky in what I like from what ive been able to find on my own.

Preferably Id like stuff that sounds like this:

those are the only 2 "country" bands that I really love. Not sure what qualities I like from them specifically but I do like the adventuring/into the wild-like themes of Old Bear Mountain. So yeah someone help a bro out

I can't say these sound quite like the video's you posted, but I'm recommending them anyways because dammit I like them:

16 Horsepower (you like some wovenhand right?)
Jimmie Rodgers (makes yodeling sound cool lord knows how)
The Louvin Brothers
Maybe also the Stanley Brothers but I haven't heard them quite enough

I'm always eager to push my favorite country album:

Country Songs Old And New by The Country Gentlemen

Early bluegrass at its finest.

For the rawest country stuff, I'm in agreement with "yourself" that you should look at early country music. I strongly second his Jimmie Rodgers rec, dude was one of the all-time great country songwriters, IMO. From the same era, I also recommend Cliff Carlisle, who combined yodeling and the Hawaiian steel guitar.

YES.

Some of my favorite bluegrass and country albums:

"Ancient Tomes" - Ricky Skaggs
"Bluegrass Rules" - Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder
"Lonely Runs Both Ways" - Alison Krauss & Union Station
"Paper Airplane" - Alison Krauss & Union Station
"Will The Circle Be Unbroken" - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (all three volumes are good, but volume one is probably my favorite)
"Honky Tonk Heroes" - Waylon Jennings
"Pieces Of The Sky" - Emmylou Harris
"Red Headed Stranger" - Willie Nelson (this may be my favorite country album of all time)
"Genuine Negro Jig" - Carolina Chocolate Drops
"Love What You Do" - Hackensaw Boys
"Antifogmatic" - Punch Brothers
"Grievous Angel" - Gram Parsons

Also, while they aren't totally bluegrass, The Avett Brothers have some heavy bluegrass influence, most prevalent on "A Carolina Jubilee". Also, if you can get a hold of some compilations of Carter Family stuff, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Sr., Stanley Brothers, Bill Monroe, stuff like that, all really good. The soundtrack to "O Brother Where Art Thou" has some fantastic bluegrass music on it too.

Listening to We Bitched by Huggy Bear right now, it's very good - raw as hell though, one of the lo-fiest LPs I've listened to, and I've listened to some.
