I really need to hear more of this sort of music, seeing as I can't stop listening to this one album. The slow droning tracks are really haunting, and the throat/overtone singing is really neat once you get used to it. Completely unique mood.
have you tried out katajjaq or other arctic north american throat singing? I like it a lot more then their Asian counterparts. you should try these!
Angutnak and Matee - The Eskimos of Hudson Bay and Alaska
This album excites me. I don't like this band much at all...but this album is different. It's not all about how fast Flea can play, or how cheesy Anthony Kiedis can make his vocals sound. This is a mature, smart album with more songs and less of the same old stuff from this band. Respect to them for making an album that's actually interesting.

The sound of a creative peak coming together. A lot of strange little bursts of ideas wrapped around fully formed songs that were becoming stronger, and one ("Killer Queen") fully developed classic. This album moves at a stunning pace, and it's loads of fun.

Wilco grows from an alt-country band into an amazing experimental noise-rock alt country thing that's at its most cohesive on this album. This is just genius, and is why Wilco is so great when they are on their game.

Document by R.E.M.
today was a hot day, and document is a hot album. it's the band's first step towards mainstream popularity, and on a peaceful day like today, there's nothing like it's catchy melodies to put yourself in a good mood.
Before Dr. Hook lost his edge (and dumped the writing of Shel Silverstein) and started cranking out sappy hits like "Sharing The Night Together", his band was maybe the most fun of any group in the 70's. This compilation captures that era beautifully, with craziness ("Acapulco Goldie"), great hooks ("Sylvia's Mother"), memorable hits ("Cover Of The Rolling Stone"), and beautiful songs ("Carry Me Carrie"). Forgotten stuff, which is really too bad.
