Brilliant rhythm section, especially Topper's drum parts (The Guns of Brixton and Train in Vain are two of the all-time best). Whenever someone says punk is a genre built on bad playing, I tell them to listen to London Calling.
Easily the strongest thematically of the American albums, and tied with the fourth for the having the best atmosphere. It's also probably my favourite Cash album, which is a strong claim but I just absolutely adore it. He even makes that godawful U2 song sound great. And 'That Lucky Old Sun' and 'Country Trash' and 'Nobody' really give the album a cool, old-man-at-the-bar sense of humour. Plus, y'know, 'I See A Darkness' and 'The Mercy Seat' were just fucking inspired choices for covers. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
