To be fair, I think that's the appropriate reaction to BRMC. I liked their first when it came out, but everything I've heard since genuinely bores the hell out of me, as did that one last time I went back to it. They're just a bit meh.
Exactly. I quite enjoyed the first two LPs, what I've heard of the rest is just extremely ordinary. I liked one song on Howl, a terribly irrelevant title btw. More like a yelp.

Move D & Benjamin Brunn - Songs from the Beehive (2008)
Listening to this again, because my first listen yesterday was astonishing. It's like deep house totally deconstructed, all the elements are there but they're put together in new and exciting ways. I'm familiar with some of Move D's stuff with Peter Namlook, and it never really did a lot for me, but this album is a revelation. Could very easily make my overall chart at some point in the near future, it's just an understated, genuinely progressive little gem of a record, one that would be hypnotic if it weren't for the fact that it's so startling in its inspired tweaking and twisting of a well-worn formula. Would highly recommend this to dividesbyzero, tekin, Norman, joyofdivision. Really excellent stuff. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
