The Road To Escondido by J. J. Cale & Eric Clapton _________________ "And canโt you see youโre in on it?

And is that not some cause
For worship, being born among these trees?"
The last masterpiece of the Clan's near-flawless run that began almost exactly three years earlier with 36 Chambers, and came to an end in 1997 with the spotty, overlong Wu-Tang Forever (that said, it's still a better album than most hip-hop artists ever manage). 36 Chambers + that first run of solo albums is just an incredible series of LPs, each with its own distinct style whilst sounding distinctly Wu. Ironman might actually be the cleanest, lushest of all, refusing to lurk in the shadows or find itself partially submerged by sinister tape hiss, it still knocks hard-as-fuck despite its horns and organs shining in the clear light of day. Where most Wu-Tang albums take place at night, or during winter, Ironman exudes the hostile, suffocating orange hues of a Spike Lee summer heatwave. Not to mention that it is the beginning of the single most interesting rap solo career of the last twenty years, and the first of Ghost's three masterpieces. _________________ 2021 in full effect.
