Yeah, I have to admit I don;t personally understand how Gilmour made it this far but I don't doubt other's genuine admiration for him.

For those that are curious, David Gilmour's path so far has been this:

Elliott Smith, Ry Cooder, Keith Richards


For the other guitarists Keith mentioned, Allman got beat by Jonny Greenwood, Page by Bert Jansch, Richards by Gilmour and Hendrix by Django.
