I love how she continues to push her sound and never repeats an album while keeping her distinctive Charli vibe to it. This is some of her best work, I'd only wish she of the songs were longer as they have potential to be greater.
It’s brilliant because I think I’ve figured out by now why Charli XCX captivates me so much: She does with pop music roughly what Bowie, the Velvet Underground, or—later on—Radiohead did with their music—she takes something completely familiar and pushes it so far that it suddenly sounds fresh and exciting again. And apparently, I’m extremely drawn to that “How on earth did she come up with THAT idea?” moment. . (Edited)

I get the concept, I appreciate the effort to switch up styles, but man, have I ever heard something as performative as this? Done well this could've been a cult classic à la 808s & Heartbreak or Human After All, but this we will very quickly forget about, even the Charli fans who are currently pretending to like it.
