I just listened to all the posted videos (except the ones either blocked regionally or removed for copywrite violations).
I don't think people are really getting the whole "beautiful use" thing The Belle and Sebastien piece is ok, but other than the title doesn't use the word as there's no lyrics there. Other songs are about as far from "beautiful" as I can imagine (Eels song has the nice piano, but his version of singing has always left me devoid of the emotion he's trying to convey - only a couple of their songs I can say I like).
Are there no other examples of a melodic song using the word in a relatively non-harsh way other than what I posted?
Oh, and this thread helped reinforce my belief that people who like Neutral Milk Hotel have tin ears thank you to the person who posted that song to remind me of that.
As someone who adores shoegaze and thinks Catherine Wheel are really lame, I'm sure I could find a better one. Destroyer was always pretty good with those, even though I've probably been posting too much about them lately.

While I'm not a big fan of NMH, elitist stuck-up assholes like you (and mecca if he wasn't joking, although he most likely was) are the worst people on the internet.
