Interpol have (finally?) broadened their sonic palette, bringing in some elements that remind me a lot of Banks’ work with his side project Muzz. But there's more: the album also draws influences that feel quite atypical for Interpol, perhaps thanks to Brad Tuax’s involvement in the songwriting as well, and for sure to their producer, that pushed them outside the box. The album has an excellent flow, moving between airy tracks with subtle textures and more classic, driving songs, with piano, synths and strings adding richness to the arrangements. One of my favorite albums of 2026.
