EDIT: Anybody else noticed that 'Six Marimbas' tribute/pastiche/rip-off? I haven't actually read any reviews of this album, so it might have been widely acknowledged, but it's pretty difficult to ignore.
So, initial reaction is that it's Elverum's best in a long while (I haven't heard everything he's put out, but my gut feeling is that this is his best under the Mount Eerie name, except maybe No Flashlight, and pretty much on the same level as The Microphones' Mount Eerie, if not better). Never been a massive Elverum fan, but really did love this on first listen, extremely impressed. Feels like a much more focused, complete version of what he was trying to do a few years back on Clear Moon (and parts of Ocean Roar). Very varied, but also very cohesive, trying lots of different sounds but shaping them all into one contemplative mood piece. 'Pleasant surprise' would be an understatement.
Anyway, moving onto...

Kath Bloom - Pass Through Here (2015)
I'm only familiar with Bloom's work with guitarist Loren Connors, which is brilliant. So hopefully this will be too. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
