With 20 of my entries in top 100 and another 3 just outside (Bicycle Thieves, North by Northwest, Wild Strawberries) I cannot really complain. Kes isn't in top 100 and that broke my heart and there are some unworthy stuff making the cut like Die hard, Spring Breakers, Matrix, Inception and that Emma Watson movie with famous songs; I don't know if these are BEAlluminati's idea of a joke or not but I think everyone has the right and deserves to know that these are shit movies which are perhaps in bottom 10 of their respective years. Who votes for this shit?? Reveal yourselves. lolol. Overall I think this is much better than last year's; more diverse, less cliche. Less cliche is always good.
some of us have short attention spans and value quality of minutes over quantity of minutes.
that said, i put a seven minute short in my number two slot, and it's not here :'(
Oh yeah I can definitely see it as not being inherently flawed or anything, some brakhage or mclaren or len lye or maya deren would've probably been on my list had I realized those were ok. But the one I saw on the list was Paperman, that short that played before Wreck It Ralph. And its a nice one and all... but I think using the spots down there for things that only one person really cared about would make for more interesting reading.
I saw Spirited Away for the first time earlier this week and really loved it, it's cool to see how high it is on this list. I don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask for movie recs, but what other Miyazaki/Ghibli films would you guys recommend I see. I've already seen Totoro and Howl's Moving Castle, both of which I liked a lot. According to this list I guess Princess Mononoke would be a good one to see next, so I'll definitely look into it. Just for reference, Spirited Away is my favorite of what I've seen followed by Howl's, then Totoro. _________________ Overall - The 2010's - 2020
