Molasses to me (the demo version, not the album version which is oddly awful despite being fundamentally the same song) is some real Where the Wild Things Are shit. Its youthful adventure and daydreams and freedom. It makes my heart sing. Oh lord, sometimes I get so sentimental. XD Its like poetry, y'all.
"Comb your fingers through your hair
Its not neighborly to stare"
I'm not really sure what she is singing about tbh, but the lines are really evocative to me.
(also thanks Frogger for putting it on that garage rock mixtape you made for Gabe which I listened to like a parasite and found the song)
The competition is really killer though. I'm really digging all this early 90s hip hop. I love how bright-eyed it seems.
I really, really dig that Aye Nako song, and it's exactly the kind of white-people-with-guitars song that actually works in summer, even though white people with guitars seem to have such a strange understanding of what summer should sound like. It's fun, breezy, and full of energy, and it'll definitely be getting plenty of play from me this summer. That said, I can't vote against 'I Wish', which is on my summer playlists every single year.
So thankyou Brandon for such a cool find, and apologies for having to vote against it. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

I am forever white-people-with-guitars' bitch. My other nom is white-people-with-gameboys; I hope you're ready.
Actually, Aye Nako is, I think, 2/4 white and Crying is 2/3 white. I'll do my best to ascertain who is actually in possession of the guitars and get back to you.
Prefer the Aye Nako track, but as this is a summer song tournament I've got to go with I Wish purely down to the vibe. And also the fact I can't play Basketball for toffee. _________________ 'Reggae' & t'ing Folk 'n Stuff SHAMELESS RECORD DEALER PLUG
