That is one of the most conservative selections of "electronic" music I've ever seen. Cool ULL so far though.

Thanks, and yeah I'm aware of that, I mostly just looked through my library and found some stuff that I hadn't listened to that could be considered electronic to some extent.

Thursday (Indie)

Brotherocean by Syd Matters

I really like this one, just a very pretty and enjoyable album in general.

Rating: 8.5/10
Favourite Tracks: Hi Life, I Might Float, Ocean Soul
People who would like this: I don't exactly know what to compare this to, I guess anyone who likes indie pop/folk?

Civilian by Wye Oak

This was pretty cool, wasn't super into it, but it was good. Sort of reminded me of Sharon Van Etten, Florence and The Machine, or Beach House even.

Rating: 7.5/10
Favourite Tracks: Civilian, The Altar
People who would like this: If you like Florence and The Machine

Gimme Some by Peter Bjorn And John

Not as good as Writer's Block, but still great. I feel as if this was a lot more rock than folk, a lot more guitars here, but that's not a bad thing, it was cool to see them switch things up but still keep the same sort of style.

Rating: 8/10
Favourite Tracks: Lies, Second Chance
People who would like this: If you like Writer's Block but want a bit more "Oomph"

Actor by St. Vincent

After realising that her self titled album wasn't her debut, and she had albums before it I went and got this, never got around to it until now though. It's a lot different than the self titled, but still pretty cool.

Rating: 8/10
Favourite Tracks: The Party, Save Me From What I Want
People Who Would Like This: Dude idk.

The Boy With The Arab Strap by Belle & Sebastian

You know, I'm really impressed by how consistently excellent Belle and Sebastian's work is, some could argue that it's "sameish", but I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing.

Rating: 9/10
Favourite Tracks: Simple Things, The Boy With The Arab Strap
People who would like this: If you've heard Belle and Sebastian before you'll know if you like this, and if you haven't then that's a problem...

Friday (Shoegaze/Psychedelic/Experimental)

Isn't Anything by My Bloody Valentine

What better way to start off the evening than with some My Bloody Valentine? Don't have much to say on this, it's just pretty good shoegaze stuff as you would expect from MBV.

Rating: 8/10
Favourite Tracks: You Never Should, Soft as Snow (but Warm Inside)
People who would like this: If you want something less noisey than Loveless and more rock.

Gloss Drop by Battles

After hearing Mirrored, I was curious to see what they would do next, and this answers that question. I didn't find it quite as crazy as Mirrored, but it was really enjoyable, lots of great tracks here.

Rating: 8.5/10
Favourite Tracks: Ice Cream, Futura
People who would like this: If you like your experimental popish

Before The Dawn Heals Us by M83

Epic. To be honest I actually like this more than Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. This isn't the type of album where I would return to an individual track, but the entire thing as a whole is fantastic.

Rating: 8.5/10
Favourite Tracks: Farewell / Goodbye
People who would like this: If you like shoegaze/electronic/ambient

Ege Bamyasi by Can

I liked Tago Mago and heard good things about this so I figured why not? Yeah it was quite good, I only listened to Tago Mago once so I don't know which I like better, but this one had some awesome grooves thats for sure.

Rating: 8/10
Favourite Tracks: One More Night, I'm So Green
People who would like this: Idk dude

Evil Urges by My Morning Jacket

I wasn't expecting anything to take the number 1 spot from Embryonic, but this did it. I think technically Embryonic is the better album, but since I'm rating this on level of enjoyment this beats it. Every track here was absolutely fantastic, not a single dud. On top of that the album managed to have amazing diversity yet still be incredibly consistent in quality and style. Simply incredible.
Side note: I don't know how much this counts as psychedelic, not that there aren't psychedelic elements in here, but it's definitely mostly rock.

Rating: 9.5/10
Favourite Tracks: Remnants, Aluminum Park, Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Pt. 2
People who would like this: If you like rock with diversity and bits of psychedelic definitely give this a try.

Saturday (Rock)

Alright, last day.

Kintsugi by Death Cab For Cutie

When the album ended I was left feeling kind of neutral, I didn't dislike any tracks on the album, but I didn't fall in love with any either, all in all it was better than I expected though. It's a good album, just not a great one.

Rating: 7/10
Favourite Tracks: Black Sun
People who would like this: If you like any of Death Cab for Cutie's stuff I'd say this is worth listening to.

English Graffiti by The Vaccines

Fell in love with this instantly, this a super fun album.

Rating: 8/10
Favourite Tracks: Handsome, Denial
People who would like this: If you like really fun Indie Rock

Wintersleep by Wintersleep

These guys are actually from my hometown so that's cool (it's a smaller city so we don't get a lot of original bands). You know, it's ok, but I found it got extremely repetitive and I was kind of tired of it after the album had ended.

Rating: 6.5/10
Favourite Tracks: Home, Caliber
People who would like this: If you like early 00s simple Indie Rock

Goon by Tobias Jesso Jr.

Pretty darn great. Reminded me a lot of John Lennon which is awesome.

Rating: 9/10
Favourite Tracks: Without You, For You
People who would like this: If you like John Lennon's solo work.

Counterparts by Rush

I love Rush, and this is generally said to be among their worst so I never listened to it until now, but you know I actually think this is really really good.

Rating: 9/10
Favourite Tracks: Animate, Nobody's Hero
People who would like this: If you want Rush to be a bit heavier, or you like heavier prog.

Trouble Will Find Me by The National

So good it gives Boxer a run for it's money. I love Alligator and High Violet but I think this is better than both of those and takes a close second to Boxer, and that's only from a single listen.

Rating: 9/10
Favourite Tracks: Fireproof, Graceless
People who would like this: If you like The National's more Boxer-esque stuff opposed to the Alligator-esque stuff.

And that's it! Hope this ULL wasn't too boring and you found some use for it. Big thanks to Gowi for managing/organizing this, it's been a really fun week!
