Star Wars by Wilco

They announced and released it about 20 minutes ago and it's free. I'm digging it so far, but I don't know whether the surprise and fact that it's free clouding my judgement. I'll have to listen to it far more to have a real opinion, but my first impression - I like it.

Good to see this. Nice change from annoying leaks and boring pre-hype...just put it out and be done with it. Screw all the pre-release crap. Just release it. I hope this starts a new trend!

=D>

You mean like Beyoncรฉ, U2, Drake, D'Angelo, Death Grips have all done in the past couple years? Not to mention releases from My Bloody Valentine, David Bowie, Radiohead, Skrillex, Kendrick Lamar, Earl Sweatshirt, Jay-Z, Bjork, etc., that have arrived with relatively little forewarning. Wilco aren't setting a trend, but rather just doing what many other artists, big and small, have been doing for a while. We have entered the age of the surprise album release - not everything's a nasty new leak.

So sorry. I don't live and breathe for new releases, so apparently, I wasn't aware of this. Thank you so much for pointing out just how wrong I was. Much appreciated.

Being right is overrated anyway. You just end up in the same place you started.

All this talk of the Byrds had me craving:

Last day of term, bitches, so I'm celebrating with some of the cheap fruit ciders the kids' parents got me as thank-you presents and a few all-time favourites on vinyl. Just finished...

More Gregory by Gregory Isaacs

Every time I listen to this, I wonder why it isn't #1 on my overall. That said, there's more than a few records about which I feel the same.

Soundtracks For The Blind by Swans

First listen, actually. Initial impression is it's much better than their recent stuff.
