A few CDs I picked at a vide-grenier yesterday, โ‚ฌ1 or โ‚ฌ2 only (my limit is โ‚ฌ3 for a used CD).

Listened to: Zuco 103, Outro lado, some downtempo chillout with a Brazilian singer. Average. Then, Badmarsh & Shri's Dancing Drums, much better, Outcaste type of UK Asian clubbing music. Bit dated but liked it. Then,

I Love Everybody by Lyle Lovett

which is totally decent radio-friendly, country-tinged AOR with a feeling. Nice.

Now onto:

The Art Of Storytelling by Slick Rick

which I'm very glad I picked up. Solid 1st listening and a sure grower. Nice boom bap beats, Slick's voice is as pleasurable as ever, I need to re-listen to the storytelling proper later (when the kid is not around).

Belle and Sebastian - live on the bbc (bootleg)

Searched a long time finally found this somewhere on the internet. Was looking forward to hear these versions of songs that were left out of the official BBC sessions album

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_BBC_Sessions_%28Belle_and_Sebastian_album%29

From the Pitchfork review "

This is an incomplete look at these sessions, leaving out a trio of songs recorded in December 1996 which included "Seeing Other People", a lovely version of "This Is Just a Modern Rock Song", and "We Rule the School". The disc also cuts off "I Could Be Dreaming" before it gets to its rousing coda. The missing "Seeing Other People" is the "slow version" the group often played at its earliest shows-- including that divisive one in New York-- which featured Murdoch, Jackson, and Isobel Campbell trading verses. Campbell's vocals sound breathless on the radio show, as she displays little vocal control, gasping for air between words and syllables. Despite that, it's still a worthy artifact.

More sadly missed is an exquisite reading of "We Rule the School", which swaps around some of the lyrics and has a tangible ache to it, even greater than the studio version's.
