Really excited to listen to this post-hardcore album from proto-Tortoise/Gastr Del Sol band Bastro, 1989 (though I'm sure it couldn't be any better than anything from 1981 !) :

Diablo Guapo by Bastro

a classic slowcore album :

I Know About You by Ida

and some Kranky :

Précis by Benoît Pioulard

Plume by Loscil

Just back from a trip to the monthly record fair in Guildford where I picked up:

Heavyweight Dub Champion by Scientist

Original 80s Greensleeves press for a fiver. Bargain.

As well as treating myself to:

Divers by Joanna Newsom

Viet Cong by Viet Cong

Two Bad DJ by Clint Eastwood & General Saint

And then had this waiting for me when I got home:

Fucked Up Friends by Tobacco

Divers by Joanna Newsom
as usual with Joanna (and maybe Drag City in general? I don't know), the packaging is beautiful. It came with a big two-sided poster of her which I don't really have a use for, but its nice.

Listen to the voices is a collection of Sly Stone's production work between 1965 and 70. I can't wait to listen to this one.

Second Album by Curved Air arrived today. An addition entirely due to bea which is where I first heard of it and so listened to it.

Also Avi Buffalo's eponymous 2010 album, this is a recommendation from a guy at work who I sometimes swap albums with. He lent me his copy which luckily my pc copied with no problem (which isn't always the case).

I've only heard it twice so I'm reserving judgement at this point except to say very interesting.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath

Well, VMP announced this as its album of the month. Mastered from the original tapes with the original labelling and a gorgeous purple color. I never heard this album in its entirety, but I do remember being obsessed with the title track when Guitar Hero 3 came out. It's pretty sweet I now own this legendary album.

Tangerine Dream - Phaedra
Pure bliss. But still doesn't beat Ricochet.

Paranoid plays like a dream (well, a nightmare really) in it's entirety. Of course I have it on CD, and I had it on original vinyl but I traded it to a friend for Are You Experienced.
