Well yeah, it's pretty usual for December not to have any major releases, but November and late October are usually promising.

Right, Arca. Forgot about that. I have a copy of the new OPN, but I haven't listened to it for the reason you mentioned. I'll wait it out until a better copy to surfaces. James Ferraro and Lotic don't particularly interest me 😕 I've always thought Ferraro's work was to unfocused to be enjoyable.

maybe it's my headphones or i somehow got a lower quality version than you on the day it leaked, which i find unlikely, but the stuff that wasn't previously released when the thing leaked has a lot of compression and tinny sound to it. it's pretty stark contrast to the wide soundstage and crisp sounds that i hear on my copies of all of SOPHIE's singles, which aren't even in 320 or anything. i just have those in AAC.
Heard the new Beach House album a few times now. I like it, especially the second half. Not sure where I put it next to Depression Cherry and their other releases yet.
It appears that for the time being they've settled into a comfortable sound that is going to please people that like their music already, but isn't going to excite the critics (although I note that Thank Your Lucky Stars is currently beating Depression Cherry on Metacritic!). The closest analogy for me is latter day Cocteau Twins (one of my favourites of all time, BTW) - a band making beautiful music but not setting the world on fire either.
Just gunna throw this out there. Another stellar jazz album from this year. Highly recommend it.
Christian Scott's last album, although very good, was a bit unfocused, and definitely far too too long. This time around he's delivered an excellent no-fat, straight to the point, record.
2015 is legitimately probably the best year for jazz in 35-40 years. _________________ Doubles & Conch

I have to say, I haven't been too eager in the lead-up to her new album., save for loving REALiTi, which won't be featuring.
