last couple trips to the record store have found me coming home with random Russian avant-garde and historical stuff nobody cares about and random house EPs from the discount bin no one's ever heard of. My life's vastly improved since I made this a regular thing

I was walking / down past the Ladbroke Grove this (well, yesterday) morning and picked up:

From Honest Jon's

Fabulous Greatest Hits by Prince Buster

Strangely enough a 2002 pressing which someone seems to have found stashed at the back of a warehouse as both HJs and Sounds Of The Universe suddenly have copies

Rock-A-Dub by Page One

Niney The Observer dubwise. Great stuff. Silly cover.

From People's Sound

What Kind Of World by The Cables

Essential Studio One rocksteady LP, perhaps second only to the first two Heptones records. Stupidly not in my Reggae chart. Must sort that.

And then in the post this morning, two days early:

Painting With by Animal Collective

Pre-order with Panda Bear sleeve, a slipmat that supposedly animates under a strobe light and some multilingual stickers. Shame the record's a bit of a damp squib (at least so far after a couple of listens), but then you never know when you order something without listening first, do you?

A 5 cd album set by Al Green. Saw it on Amazon and as it happened I didn't already have any of the 5 albums on offer here - namely Call me, Let's stay together, Belle, Gets next to you & I'm still in love with you - so I snapped it up. 5 Al Green albums for a tenner can't be bad in anyone's language.

One by Be

Managed to get a vinyl copy of this beautiful work of 40,000 bees, a couple of members of Spiritualized and Amiina.

Businessmen & Ghosts by Working For A Nuclear Free City

Found a CD copy of this criminally overlooked electro-psychedelic indie rock double album.

Spokes by Plaid

Decided to add another Plaid album to my collection after soundtracking a bubble bath with Rest Proof Clockwork last weekend.

And now for some dub love 😄

From yesterday's Guildford Record Fair:

Hex Enduction Hour by The Fall

67/100. Original UK press for a tenner. Bargain.

Veedon Fleece by Van Morrison

First UK press. A fiver.

Megaton Dub 2 by Lee 'Scratch' Perry

Contains a cracking dub of the Congo's Fisherman. I've always believed Scratch's two Megaton LPs - and not his Super Ape albums - are by far his best dub records. Highly recommend giving them a spin.
