I don't understand the gulf in reactions to Drake and Blake's respective albums. They're both self-obsessed, melancholy, greyscale, exhausting, quasi-ambient pop albums that find both artists tweaking their styles in interesting ways without ever stepping out of their comfort zones.
Why is anyone talking about either of these two when they could be talking about...
I doubt I'll ever get around to listening to Drake's album. I've never really enjoyed anything he's done. I listened to the Blake and enjoyed, but need to give a few more spins, since it was mostly background music when I gave it a first listen. yeah this is pretty good, definitely one of the more surprising albums that i've heard this year

Yeah. ANOHNI doesn't have the emotional vocal depth of Drake or anything, but still pretty good. I think it's ANOHNI's best since I Am a Bird Now. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
Just fyi been listening to this a lot lately, and recommend to anyone who digs the new OME, or just generally very lyrically off-beat indie hip-hop + very kinda soulful nostalgic (?) production (a few instrumentals on the thing that bang oh so subtly). It's a producer album but has a sense of consistency that most such albums tend to lack imo. Some excellent features by Myka 9 and the aforementioned OME (the latter being one of my favorite tracks of the year and almost as good as some of the best off of Hella Personal Film Festival)
