Picked up Nirvana's Nevermind from Randy's Records in SLC.
It's a palla's recording from Germany. I've been doing some research on it and the interwebs have differing opinions on it. It doesn't look like a remaster pressing (says nothing of the sort), so as long as that is the case, I'm happy.
I'm going to a quadraphonic party to hear some quadraphonic mixes, but then we'll be spinning a song or two from select records.
I think I might keep it clean for that party and find out then! One thing I noticed is terrible from the remaster is that the drums and bass are basically no longer a big part of the sound and it's just loud guitar and vocals... worship Cobain much? Idk... maybe that's not fair... maybe I'm just getting that because everything is so highly compressed there's no dynamic range and that's just what I'm picking up from the result of that...
REALLY hoping that's not what this vinyl sounds like.

Interestingly I decided to do a little research of my own after seeing you'd picked this up. Seems like it was properly mastered for vinyl as opposed to being pressed straight from a CD master (as so many represses tend to be these days - bloody hipsters can't tell the difference on their Urban Outfitters' record player), and from what I can glean from my sources is probably the best pressing of Nevermind on wax you're likely to get outside of picking up the original pressing. Anyone who buys LPs from Amazon without shopping around first is an idiot however - Discogs have a fair few copies going for $20-25 new or as close as.

I ashamedly bought the Unplugged album from Amazon without shopping around... hahha.
I only was super concerned because I recently listened to the remaster of Nevermind and well... let's just say I thought it was the worst remaster ever.
And I'm no remaster Nazi... Beatles remaster... cool with it. Smashing Pumpkins remaster... cool with it... U2 remaster, cool with it. Led Zeppelin remaster... cool with it.... well you get the picture.
Nevermind remaster NOT cool with it.
I still haven't opened it... part of me wants to be pleasantly surprised at the Quadraphonic party (I realize it isn't mix as such) or to "test it" first.
2009 UK press on Fat Cat. Picked this up off eBay, had a fork out a pretty penny but nowhere near as much as I thought I'd have to. Just missing Danse Manatee and Here Comes The Indian for the all the AC LPs on wax now. Just put it on whilst typing this and it sounds clear as crystal on the black stuff
As mentioned in a previous post, with only 200 of these ever (hand)made and with Brandon already having a copy that means that BEA members now own precisely 1% of these ever manufactured. And somewhat fittingly it was thanks to another BEAer from far away over the sea who procured this for me via the Kiwi version of eBay. Chuffed to bits to finally get my hands on it some 5-odd years after adding it to the BEA database and nearly 8 years since hearing it for the first time.
