I'm staying near Bradford on a training course this week and as we had an early finish today I hopped on the train to Leeds City Centre for a little vinyl therapy. The centre of Leeds has got 3 shops - Jumbo (all new), Crash (mixture of both) and Relics (all second-hand). And they're all brilliant in their own way (LittleM - you'd have a field day), with the bloke at Relics in particular one of the friendliest, chattiest record store guys I've ever met. Spent a ton on some amazing records - all first presses, all in cracking nick and am currently sitting in my hotel room where I'm listening to my beloved Aldershot Town getting thrashed to bits by a bunch of country bumpkins wishing I had my record player here so I could give these slabs of wax a spin instead. Anyway - today's offerings, firstly from Relics:
Saw this UK press on Asylum in a record shop in Henley last week and the bloke wouldn't come down from £35, despite the fact the record had plenty of crackle. This doesn't and was nearly half as much.
Crash also had a copy of Autechre's Tri Repetae for £50 which I was half-tempted to get to go along with the other Autechre LPs I've got. By then however I'd already spent far too much and whilst Googling for comparitive prices in the shop found out Warp are just about to repress it, so left it be and wandered down to Wagamamas for a Chicken Katsu. _________________ 'Reggae' & t'ing Folk 'n Stuff SHAMELESS RECORD DEALER PLUG
