I've already accumulated over 12,000 edits since the moderation system was launched just two months ago, and the next nearest is in the 800s (thanks to harkan), and then btener11 with 555 (thanks), and after that there is only one other person with over 100 edits (thanks RF).
The site will get into a mess very quickly if we don't keep on top of the new data. It might mean capping users from adding over x new albums into their charts, or only allowing users with x mod points to add new albums, or perhaps even having a tiered membership.
I'm still thinking what to do, and I'm sure a solution will be found, but in the first place, this was the original reason for delaying the launch of these larger charts. |
I'm not exactly sure what I can do. If it was more clear I would help out.
e.g. where do all the new additions show up?

You can see recent additions @ "Home" => Newly added albums or Newly added bands. Then click any artist/album that is marked with a red "X" (ie has not been moderated yet) and then click the edit button ( ) by the album/artist's name..
Then you fill the missing spaces like tracklist or country of origin, ... And don't forget to "approve" the admission (it's the first thing on the list). If you're unsure of anything else, scroll over those little blue question marks, should help

One possibility is that when it comes to adding the albums into your chart and the person has to click the "confirm here if the spelling is correct and you still want to add the artist/album" thing comes up, you could force people to go to the edit album page and enter details themselves if they really want to add that album/artist to the database (and considering the fact that they are doing the adding they should know well about what they're adding) or if you don't want to force people you could just have info come up for how to add the information after they've created their chart...

I second this.

Definitely.Who knows the album any better than the person adding it as a favorite? I don't think that's asking too much at all. _________________ Speakers of the House DJ

I concur. I know it wasn't clear to me I could mod the albums/band and only happened because I hit a link out of curiosity. But those albums I did not mod at the time I do not know how to go back to. I will eventually find it out but I expect most people will not bother looking it up. There should at least be a mod button on your chart for those albums that don't come out as you wanted.

I like that idea a lot.
EDIT: Now added edit icons within your chart on the My Chart page (and also a message if your chart contains unmoderated items). Let's see how this works...
