I've been thinking pretty hard, so I skipped out on working on my 80s chart to work on 1991. Instead of letting you sort through the whole list of 100 records, I'll suggest these "mellow" releases:
  • Between Happiness And Heartache - Breathless
  • Cerulean - The Ocean Blue
  • Umbrella - The Innocence Mission

Looks awesome, Gowi! I was really digging Ocean Blue's debut over the summer so I'll probably check that one out first. 😁

Beat Happening

Their First 7', the First release on K records on Vinyl, one of the First Indie pop records...

This is the perfect distillation of what I'm talking about regarding Beat Happening.

Just wanted to stop in and say I'm definitely going to use this for recs, so great job and thank you.

Also, be sure to not overlook the band Luna, like so many others do. I'd recommend
Penthouse by Luna (US) to start. They're perfect for your "mellow zone". Penthouse is one of my favorite albums for mellow nights in the city.

EDIT: Wanted to edit my post here just to add this Youth Lagoon album. I live in NC and spend a lot of time in hte mountains. Let me tell you, there is no better feeling than driving a scenic highway early in the morning drinking a cup of joe listening to this album:
