People who discredit modern country music tend to be too focused on the contemporary country that airs on channels like GAC, CMT, and on radio stations that play formulaic drivel.

Here's one of my favorites from 2017:

I know there's such a thing as Modern Bluegrass, but it's just awful. Alison Krauss and shit. It's way too slow and sounds like every other piece of shit record that comes out.

You obviously haven't heard enough of Alison Krauss & Union Station if you're going to say that. She's got some insanely talented musicians in her band and plenty of it isn't slow.

Also that woman has an incredibly gorgeous voice, I think I like this cover of "I Will" better than the Beatles original

And there's plenty of good bluegrass around right now. The Seldom Scene is still kicking around last I heard, they're great. I've always loved this Dylan cover they do

Plus there's Cherryholmes for example

And of course, it's impossible not to mention the Punch Brothers

So yea, there's plenty of good modern bluegrass out there.

speaking of contemporary country/bluegrass
Sierra Hull is releasing nice albums as well.
I enjoy also some Alt-Country, Gothic Country albums such as:
The Magnolia Electric Co. by Songs: Ohia
Munly & The Lee Lewis Harlots by Munly & The Lee Lewis Harlots
Sackcloth 'n' Ashes by 16 Horsepower
The Angels Of Light Sing Other People by Angels Of Light
Mosaic by Wovenhand

Yes! All great choices as well. I'll add to that that Ricky Skaggs, one of the best mandolin players in history, is still kicking around making music too

He did this awesome version of "Old Enough" with The Raconteurs a few years back
