I don't want to offend anyone but this list looks like a disaster. Maybe the categorization was too broad?

Yeah - the categorization is broad on purpose. It's a 100k foot look at parent genre's. This one is especially messy due to trying to please different definitions of genres.
What "should" it look like?
Just like this site says -if you don't like the list, make your own (and by that I mean I don't think you've voted yet).
Maybe people think it should look like a typical top 100 chart, where everyone has basically the same albums but in a different order. Where everyone agrees on what the classics are. Where there's a consensus on what the best are. So far I don't think any two people have picked the same album in this list.. I think it's kind of refreshing. It's better than seeing the same hundred albums over and over again. Heh heh.

For sure - as alluded earlier, really it'll be the "battle" of the number one pick from each member. Which I'm cool with. The goal really isn't to identify the best rather share music and be a place for people to look for recs in parent genre's... with a side order of a competition to add a little fun.

Music Of India (Three Classical Ragas) by Ravi Shankar has now pulled into the lead -- two actual live votes!
Tis true! Here are those with 10 points or more. It'd be great if we could get some more players, or at least those voting to discuss/learn more/share music from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Carribbean, Middle East, etc. We had 9 vote for it.
Tap, YoungPunk, Kool Keith Sweat, RichardSauce, Tha1ChiefRocka - we'd love to see your votes to round off this top 10!

I'm not familiar enough to make a chart of my own, but here's a list I put together a few years ago by putting together lists of "Greatest World Music Albums". I can't speak to how solid of a list it is--I've only heard a few on it--but maybe someone will find it helpful.
Vinicius de Moraes e Baden Powell- Os Afro Sambas Brazil
Tomani Diabete & Ballake Sissoko- New Ancient Strings Africa
Scientist- Meets the Space Invaders Jamaica
Lou Harrison- La Koro Sutro (This is an American conducting Javanese Gamelan, but what the hell) Asia
Fela Kuti- Sorrow Tears and Blood Africa
Carioca & Devas- Misterios de Amazonia Brazil
Francis Bebey- African Electronic Music 1975-1982 Africa
Enrico Caruso- The Complete Caruso Italy
Buena Vista Social Club- Buena Vista Social Club Cuba
